Tea Reviews:
Starbucks - Black Tea Latte

I'm quickly becoming very fond of black tea with milk and sugar.  And that's basically what this is.  It's made with Tazo's 'Awake' tea, which is their breakfast blend.  Nice, strongish black tea.  Then add milk, and classic syrup (which is just a simple sugar syrup) and you have the black tea latte.

I like to tweak this one a bit when I order it.  To me, it's a bit too mild as is.  I only add a little milk to my tea when I make it at home, so I ask the barista to use less milk, and more water.  That way, I get a stronger tea flavor.  And I ask for additional syrup, since I like my tea sweet.

It's not perfect, obviously, but it's convenient.  That's what it comes down to, I suppose.  If you have the time, and are really picky about your tea, you may want to order a cup of Awake and add the milk and sugar yourself.  (Which is my personal preference.)  But if you're in a hurry, a ready-made black tea latte is a good alternative.  Just experiment a bit, and find out how much syrup and milk you like, then you can order it that way straight off.

In short:  It's a judgment call, I guess.  It's more convenient, but you have less control over the milk/sugar added.  So, it's up to you whether you think the added convenience is worth the trade off.
